Linux/WINE Compatability

Is anyone aware of a way to run/compile the GUI version of this on Linux/a fork which runs on modern Linux distros?
Alternatively any tips to set things up via WINE.

I did purposefully go down the NetCore5 route to facilitate this but as it stands it takes windows dependencies; and sorry I've never had the need/will to go down the Wine route; but I'd be happy to help with core changes if you were to give it a go.

Net6 I could probably achieve without too much effort if that would help.

Beyond that, Net.Maui has potential but I did this while on gardening leave; busy again now...

Check out the originals: DeepNest and DeepNestPort for quite a few comments on building those; may be transferrable.

If switching to NET6 is the simplest cross-platform option then I’d definitely be interested in going that route.

I was able to compile/run the console version. It would accept files/run/generate a log file. However it would not generate any nested output files.

Are there any options to donate to this project?

The console's a hangover from DeepNestPort. I kept it compiling but didn't give it any more attention than that, tbh. I just wanted the UI. You might get more mileage from the console version in DeepNestPort.

Options to donate? You mean contributing code to the repo? Absolutely. Beyond that it wouldn't take very long to get to the point that buying a commercial package would be the most effective option...

I’ll definitely try the console for the time being - though I too would prefer to use the UI.

Sorry to necrobump, but I was able to get the latest DeepNestCore up and running on WINE after using winetricks to install the dotnet 6 runtime. This doesn't appear to work with DeepNestSharp, but maybe it's cause I have to compile those dlls or turn that feature off or something. Were you aware of winetricks @gyundt?
