[REQUEST] epsf is deprecated

The original (and now obsolescent) graphics inclusion macros for use with dvips, still widely used by Plain TeX users (in particular).

For LaTeX users, the package is nowadays (rather strongly) deprecated in favour of the more sophisticated standard LaTeX latex-graphics bundle of packages.

(The latex-graphics bundle is also available to Plain TeX users, via its Plain TeX version.)

I don't see any epsf commands in the cls file, why are you still using it?

I find this issue because I do not install "Plain TeX" packages when installing texlive, and I see I cannot compile AASTeX7 article

I don't understand what you are asking for. You can't get aastex7.cls or aastex701.cls to compile on your computer with texlive, is that correct? Can you provide more details on which version of texlive you have installed and on what OS? Are there error messages? A minimum working example with the .log file would be very useful.

No, I mean I installed aastex on my texlive but I did not install epsf, so that I cannot compile my file

Then I checked what is epsf and I found that this is a deprecated package for plain TeX

I can see you have this \RequirePackage{epsf,graphicx} here, but I didn't see any /epsfxxx command in your code

I tried to delete the epsf in this line and do not see any error

so I think maybe epsf can be removed from the dependency list
