Observations from using Project Infinity #65

Description

@Mycenius

Hi - As a fairly recent user of Project Infinity (only started using it in December) and finding a fairly steep (if somewhat brief) learning curve to get it up and running and installing correctly I thought I'd pass on a few observations that I am not sure are actual bugs or issues or just my misuse.. So may be of use to you or not. Regardless I want to say thank you so much for PI, it's a fantastic tool and once I got my head around it I use it constantly - so I do appreciate all the hard work that has gone into it from your side and sharing it with the community.

  1. Anyway these were the points I wanted to pass on for consideration - you will likely be aware of all of them and likely may have actioned some. These were as of the end of December 2024 (and I have not noted any changed since):
  2. Most AVs/Security Suites/Windows Defender/etc identify PI as Windows PowerShell trying to load a Trojan Horse malware - so it might be good to note this int he read me or the wiki somewhere. It seems one of the most common causes of people not getting Pi to work.
  3. Project Infinity Graphics Issues on Windows 10 & 11 - I persevered for several days before I found the old bug report here on the PI GitHub from 18+ months prior that had been closed, but that referenced the fix (DPI Compatibility Settings) - again would be great to have this in readme or wiki somewhere.
  4. Top & Bottom Up and Down Arrows - ‘go to top’ and ‘go to bottom’ respectively; didn’t just move the item selected for me they also totally inverted the entire list of components (obviously I presume not the intended effect as not very helpful when you have 1200 or so items in your list) - unless I am misunderstanding their intended behaviour?
  5. Right Click Clone Container Function - I realise this is beta and use at your own risk but as it appeared to work I tried to use it for a couple of days, not realising while it happily crated the clone container it broke the mod component (I presume it disconnected the component from the tp2 file meta data or something similar). Again perhaps a comment on it in readme or wiki that it's currently not functional (or has side effects if used)?

Sometimes when you refresh the extracted mods folder it doesn't find all the mods. After a few try's it usually does though. If you would like me to provide any further info on any of these let me know - but I assume they are all previously identified.
