In section 3.5 of the User Guide, it states that I can try using markdown

However, when trying to using the markdown syntax for bold on the body text with the 'edit' command, the text just appeared as plain text with the asteriks.

I was only informed later in the UG that only headers, lists and asteriks are supported.

Thanks for the issue. Actually, the Markdown text you highlighted is a hyperlink that links to the Markdown feature section where we talk about the supported syntax! Therefore, we are rejecting this bug.
