Mod Compatibility: Alpha Biomes

Hi there,
Alpha Biomes (Feralisk Jungle is the only one I've tried) is having all trees cut down generate mixed lumber instead of logs.

I'd love to see compatibility with this mod as I find ExpandedWoodworking adds a great level of complexity and challenge to the game to have to craft logs to lumber for use, but of course when it goes straight to lumber torches and campfires are impossible to build.

I would like to add it as well. However, given my current knowledge of the fantasy trees in Alpha Biomes, I am not sure how to balance it. Meaning I need suggestions (even if just comparisons to existing content in Expanded Woodworking) from those who have played with it. I looked at it a few months back and determined the trees corresponding to their biomes below were where the issues are.

Any suggestions are welcome. The parenthesis denotes an existing wood log for the tree.

One thing about the AB trees is that a lot of them sound like they're poorly suited for lumber:

Flash Frozen:

A small amount of wood can be extracted from it

Giant Stikehr:

Its stalk is so hardened that it can be considered wood for all intents and purposes

Sessile Mechanoid:

Perhaps a bit of wood could be extracted from it

Arbuscular Mycorrhiza:

A small quantity of wood can be harvested from its trunk

It reminds me of the saguaro cactus. While all except the Giant Stikehr technically provide real wood, I can imagine that what you'd actually be able to extract would only be some bits and pieces that could be used as fuel or processed into mixed lumber. So for simplicity and to avoid too much clutter, I'd suggest making a generic "low quality wood" log type that works similarly to saguaro ribs, or maybe even rename saguaro ribs and use that.

As for the rest of the trees:

Giant Septimum:
Supposedly a relative to another plant that provides some really strong fibers used in armors. Combined with the fact that it takes a lot of work to harvest for the amount of wood it provides, I imagine its wood would be really hard and durable, but probably hard to work with with and not very beautiful. Since it provides so little wood and can't even be cultivated, I think you could give it a really high HP multiplier and market value.

Dead Bower:

this chemical energy is stored in brown coloured chemical postules

I can't imagine how a tree like that could produce good lumber, so this could be another candidate for generic low quality wood logs. Alternatively, make the wood it produces really ugly.

Deep Jungle:
Supposedly an alien tree, but you could probably draw some parallels to trees from earth's jungles. It actually looks like he copied most of the stats directly from palm or cecropia ...which actually isn't that helpful, since those two have wildly different wood types. I lean slightly towards just giving it cecropia logs, unless you're feeling creative.

Fan Palm:
Could probably find a good real life equivalent to this, but again I'd just take the easy way out and give it black palm logs. I get the impression that different types of palm lumber don't differ that much except in color and texture anyway.

Keening Cordax:
Actually doesn't need patching, as it doesn't drop wood.

Firevine:
I think you missed this one, it's from the Conflagration biome. The obvious thing here is to give it low flammability. Although, there's already a wood type like that in the form of red wood. I think the description for that is generic enough that it could be used for this tree too.

I kind of guessed that based on the names of some of them, which led me to being unsure of how to make them work and looking for feedback. Getting a response like yours is very helpful!

I don't know if I want to make a generic low-quality wood log similar to mixed lumber in the lumber category, but your suggestions do give me some ideas. I never even looked at the descriptions when I made the list. Just wrote down each tree that made wood at the time while looking through the files.

I've got a few palms to choose from if I look at what I have in VGP as well. I'll have to compare and maybe come up with a hybrid of them all.
