Not sure why we are converting from mp3 -> wav -> ul. On low power devices this can be costly and slow.
Asterisk plays wav files fine. Maybe I'm missing something?

To play .mp3 or .wav files we would need to ensure that the system has a compatible "format" module loaded (e.g. format_mp3.so, format_wav.so).

Our "default" is to load these formats:

Yes, but folks have been known to modify their configs. Maybe asl-play-arn should query asterisk for the available / loaded formats and convert only when needed?
