Current discussions have surrounded the idea of a magnetite, kitty-litter (bentonite clay) mixture to absorb moisture and clump, and to heat up due to induction.

Secondly, using a combination of larger and smaller steel shot might prove a better conductor and heat up more efficiently than the magnetite-clay mixture, as well as make a good crust-shattering medium with agitation. The larger shot will heat up more intensely and be more likely to crack and scatter crust formations, while the smaller shot group has better surface area; good for catching liquid and creating many micro film surfaces for rapid dehydration.

Questions to answer are.... does the clumping of bentonite provide a benefit that outweighs the steel shot? Whats more cost-effective initially? Long term? Would a bentonite clump and steel shot mixture be more effective?

We should gather several medium samples and combinations to see what works fastest and most effectively using the least amount of energy as possible.
