Setting up source control deployment step takes a long time

I've been following the steps to deploy a solution and when my machine got to the step "Setting up Source Control" it appears to just hang. It's been 15 minutes of waiting for the same step to clear.

This is using Mac OS version 10.13.4 .

Hi Devin, sorry for the delay in answering.
I have seen this happening where the site is actually deployed but the way the resource reports deployment success seems to have changed and the tool used to deploy the whole solution using a single click has not been updated in some time now...
Check out that your site is up and running, you should be in business.
