Hello!
First of all, I want to express my gratitude for maintaining this extension and it's absolutely my go-to for VSCode and I totally love it, but recently I've noticed that there are a few issues regarding high contrast themes.
Specifically, I'm talking about high-contrast themes being treated as dark themes if I'm not mistaken, no matter if they themselves are hc-dark or hc-light.
Now, I'm not sure why is it the way it is (I'm sure you have a good reason for implementing it this way!), but this behaviour is negatively affecting UX with hc-light themes.
I can't remember all the issues I've encountered, but the most dissatisfying one so far has been poor markdown UX. Specifically, as you can see here, Markdown rendered with Bearded Theme Milkshake Blueberry is massively lacking proper contrast, effectively rendering some blocks unreadable (img uploaded).
This image corresponds to the markdown snippet with fenced code block (```).
I will be sure to update the issue if I remember and/or encounter other issues with HC themes acting quirky, but in case I'm not the only one, I'd appreciate if other users would describe their issues with HC themes.
Regarding the issue, please tell me if additional info is needed. Thank you very much for your continued maintenance of your plugin! I apologize if this issue is a duplicate or/and a known issue, although I didn't find it in present/closed issues, I might've missed it.
UPD: so far the easiest fix for this specific issue seems to be manually fixing color scheme for markdown, but I'm not sure if that's a goto approach and pretty sure it will have its drawbacks, esp if some elements are reused and whatnot. I'm sorry, I lack perspective on how these plugins work, so I'd appreciate some of your perspective on this!
UPD2: pretty sure it relates to these issues too, though im not sure that the cause is the same for each of them:
