how to relate discharge equipment to spaces #723

Description

@fennibay

brick:feeds and rec:feeds are specified for:

  1. relationships from/to brick:Equipment
  2. from brick:Equipment to rec:Space.

The second relationship works well for equipment like supply fans, supply dampers, heating coils, radiators etc. But not so well for exhaust/extract/return valves and fans.

How can we model the relationship from zones to exhaust/extract/return equipment?

Options that I see now:

  1. Extend feeds to allow also relationships from rec:Space to brick:Equipment
  2. Keep AS IS, but interpret the feeds relationship as reverse for return/exhaust/extract equipment.
  3. Do not use feeds for such relationships, but place an equipment in rec:Space, and use feeds from that equipment.

I think 1 would be the simplest and would need the lowest effort.

  1. An example using S223: https://gtf.fyi/posts/223p/loops/eye-of-the-beholder-2/ -> This solves the issue by placing a connection point like ex:VAV1_Outlet in the room and connecting that (somewhat similar to solution 3).
  2. https://docs.brickschema.org/modeling/collections.html -> This only models supply relationships, but no return.
