registration not working

I've created a new upload template that appears to be working, but when I click 'upload' nothing happens.
I'm on Win 10, working thru Chrom browser. The test data created registrations as expeceted. I'm attaching the mapping.js and the demo/test data I'm using. Are there logs somewhere that can be used to debug these kind of problems?

the mapping file is in the zip archive so GitHbe will take it.

I got the same problem when I tried to upload the samples. For debugging in the Chrome browser, I used the "inspect" on the page and opened the "console" tab. When I tried to upload, I got a the following error:

POST https://sesardev.geosamples.org/webservices/upload.php 400 (Bad Request)

I retrieved the XML that MARS generates, and I attached it. LaCoreHole.xml.txt

I tried to upload the samples through SESAR's web services by pasting the XML at https://sesardev.geosamples.org/webservices/upload.php. The "sample_type" field occurs twice because MARS hard codes the sample_type to be "Individual Sample," which is a problem within MARS if the sample type is Core like with this data. So this definitely something that needs to be fixed within MARS.

To try to get the samples to upload, I removed the "sample_type" map from the file LaCoreHoleTemplate.js. When I retrieved the XML and uploaded through SESAR's web services again, I got some errors with what SESAR accepts as values. I also attached the errors that SESAR returned.

Right now, MARS doesn't give the user any meaningful errors or warnings, which is something that should be addressed. In addition, it should notify the user of what values SESAR permits and allow the user to edit the data within the application. I'm interested in getting these samples to work, and so I will keep working on it and see what I find.

Thanks for looking into the problem. I didn't realize those validation rules were there. It would be great if the app could check before uploading and let the user know up front. I'll look into where the rules are enumerated.

I was able to get the samples to register after modifying the mapping file a bit, and I have attached it below.

It was just a quick fix to get it working as soon as possible, and I would like to refine MARS a lot more to accommodate sample metadata more readily.

I didn't map a few fields because they were throwing errors.

For the "Original ID" field, I will need to modify MARS's toXML() function to accommodate nested XML tags.

For the "DepthTop" and "DepthBottom" fields to be included, there needs to be a Depth Scale, such as Meters Below Seafloor or Meters Composite Depth. I wasn't sure if either of those values were acceptable for this set of metadata, so I left out the mapping for those fields.

This was an excellent way to help me understand how MARS needs to be more modular and accepting of different styles of data, and I'm still working on allowing the "Original ID" and "Sample Type" fields to be mapped.

Hmm, I"m back,tried running MARs again (windows 10, Chrome,localhost:8080, start with $npm run start-dev-watch

load mapping file from Tia, and sample data from Anders, app goes quied, never comes back from click on 'proceed' button. Eventually Chrome stops with an 'Aw Snap' error message. Am I missing something? what should happen if the run is successful?
