Failure activating the script in darktable

When I activate the script via the script manager I get this error:

Same problem here with Manjaro and Darktable 5.4.0. I looked into the problem some more.
The problem seems to be that when the preferences are being read, the default value is not applied, even when the corresponding setting doesn't exist. I am not really familiar with lua programming and never worked with lua in darktable. So I am not sure exactly how the preferences are used in the script. However, simply checking whether the value is empty and if so returning the default value fixed the problem for me.

If you want to use my "hacky" fix as well, you can simply change the following line in the script:
