Digital Triggered Stop

Hello! I have been really enjoying using STDPC with my setup.

I have a small feature request. I was hoping for a digitally triggered stop, similar to how you can trigger the clamping with the digital in.

This would help greatly with some time-dependent protocols I have been working with. I have been using STDPC in conjunction with pclamp suit of tools and the trigger is really useful. However, the digital stop would help splitting it up into episodic sweeps.

Hi, sorry to keep you waiting, and thank you for the request! A stop trigger from digital in should be possible -- we're not currently listening to digital inputs once the cycle is running, but it shouldn't add too much overhead to do so on request. Would you use the same channel as for the start trigger, or do you think a separate channel would make more sense?

My schedule is a little tight at the moment, so it might be July before I get around to it.

No worries! For my purposes I would likely be using the same channel as the start trigger. Although I can see the advantages of a separate channel!

One could, but DAQmx differentiates between "channels" and "lines" that I don't fully understand, and I don't have access to any devices to learn or test. So for now, let's try this with the same channel...

@smestern, I've added a stop trigger checkbox. When checked, the clamp cycle reads from the configured digital channel, and stops clamping as soon as it sees a zero. So you'd set up a single channel that signals 1 during a sweep or an experiment, and 0 on either end of it.
I've uploaded the binary here along with the necessary runtime bits. Assuming you've been using the latest release version, you'll want to download the entire folder and run StdpC from within that.
Please let me know if there are any issues, I'll do my best to address them asap.

Hello, Apologies for the slow reply as I was out of the lab for a week. I gave this a shot on my setup.
This is excellent! Works as needed for me, I was able to clamp On->Off using the digitial out in Clampex.
Two quick notes, are not important for my purposes, but may be important to other users:

• Settle for/until does not seem to work (never triggers)
• Clamping cannot be restarted via digtial trigger once stopped

Thank you for the feedback! I hadn't considered stepping back and forth between waiting and clamping, but it makes sense, so I'll see if I can't make that happen. Timed settling not working sounds like a bug, thank you for reporting. I'll investigate!
