Visual Studio window becomes active and switches monitors when switching git branches using an outside tool #29

Current setup:

  • Windows 11 Pro with a dual monitor setup
  • Typically have Visual Studio open and maximized in my 2nd (right monitor) but not always active (other windows may be overlayed on top)
  • Use multiple tools to manage the git repository including (but not limited to):
    • Visual Studio
    • Visual Studio Code
    • Command Line
    • Internal Tool to create pull requests that include all our internal requirements. This tool gets the latest, creates a new branch from main, switches to this branch, cherry picks the selected commits, tags the necessary work items, and more before switching back to the original branch. This is all done in the background.

Whenever I switch Git branches using a tool other than Visual Studio, the Visual Studio window becomes active in my first (left) monitor. I do a lot of switching between branches during the day and feel like an option for the Git functionality in this extension would be nice. The temporary branch I mentioned above that is used for pull requests ends up automatically showing up in my contextkeeper list.
