After installing and restarting Vs2022, trying to access ContextKeeper does nothing

Hello,

I am working with VS2022 v17.14.8 (64 bits)

Accessing Extensions, ContextKeeper, Mental Snapshots / License details OR trough View, Other Windows, ContextKeeper Mental Snapshots does nothing after I click on those options.

Tested running VS in normal AND administrator mode, with a loaded solution AND without it.

I've retested this exact VS version ( v17.14.8) and looks good (cannot reproduce). Uninstalling and installing again doesn't resolve the issue?

If you still see this issue, could you check %ProgramData%\ContextKeeper\contextkeeper_17.0.log and include it here?

OK, I've seen similar behavior and this is caused by corrupted Visual Studio extension cache/state, and not by ContextKeeper extension. There a couple potential fixes, depending on which part of Visual Studio is broken:

1. Try disable ContextKeeper extension in Roaming Extension Manager and install it again
2. devenv /ResetSettings or devenv /resetskippkgs (resets all extensions)
3. You could try deleting %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\VisualStudio\ 17.0_* BUT BE EXTRA CAREFUL - all installed extension will be DELETED ⚠It's similar clean up done by Reset the Visual Studio 2022 Experimental Instance

Thanks but ContextKeeper does not work on VS2022, it cannot be installed. The other options are not possible for me as I am not permitted to reset all the settings for my environment. I would have to forget about this extension, I am sorry...

Have you tried disabling ContextKeeper extension in Roaming Extension Manager and installing it again? Maybe it will be enough.

I just installed the extension as well, and noticed that the "Create Snapshot" plus button wasn't doing anything -- however, I looked at the Output window and saw this:

Might be a different issue, and I haven't tried the steps above yet, but figured i'd chip in with some more info if helpful. Gonna try those steps now though.

@issmith962 thanks for the logs! That is a different issue/bug, which version of Visual Studio 2022 are you using? (VS 17.14) I'll look into it.
