Cantus Index Items with Error Messages as ID

Hi @dchiller and @annamorphism

While fetching Cantus Index JSON data using the list of cids available at https://cantusindex.org/json-cids, I noticed four chants whose CID were error messages:

Error: Genre BD needs to be defined as a related chant. Please contact admins. (appears twice)
Error: Genre HV needs to be defined as a related chant. Please contact admins.
Error: Please delete this chant or contact admins

Despite that, I was able to retrieve their JSON records at https://cantusindex.org/json-cid-data/{cid}

Two of these chants can also be found through the Cantus Index webpage:

Is this expected behavior?

Thanks for this, @SCN-MNG ! No, it's not expected--and I think I have encountered it before, but wasn't sure if there were other cases. Are these the only ones? (And any idea where "please delete" might live?)

There is also a chant whose cid is "xxxxxx" (you can retrieve the JSON record of the chant at https://cantusindex.org/json-cid-data/xxxxxx

I was able to retrieve its JSON record using https://cantusindex.org/json-cid-data/Error:%20Please%20delete%20this%20chant%20or%20contact%20admins

I wasn't able to find it through the Cantus Index search bar though.

Hmmm...we should probably ask Jan... what do you think @annamorphism ?

@dchiller I agree--I did mention it to Debra already, but it's really an issue for Jan.
I found (and reported) three cases like this back in May of 2024; one was eventually fixed to the ID a01386:01, but the other two are the nodes identified by @SCN-MNG as still existing on the site. It looks like the other ones (xxxx, "Please delete", etc) were probably (?) created a little later--which means that the May '24 fix prevented them from showing up on the site, but didn't prevent them wandering into the JSON data.
