[Feature request] Support for plain text files

I was going to add the data for this app to Syncthing, when I noticed that it uses a database to store.. plain text.

I would like to have, at least, optional support for plain text files. The folder structure could be something simple as /2026/03/21. And any images for that day would be copied to that folder, along with the file entry.md itself. Or whatever the name may be.

I see no reason to complicate and obscure things with a database. :)

I hear you! I use a database because it is far easier to link metadata and tags with entries. It also makes most operations far faster and straight forward. A database scales better as the number of entries grows, and the features I plan to implement lend themselves to a database.

I don't want to dismiss a plain text option! However, the maintenance burden would be high, so I probably won't make it a priority. Additionally, the database is a simple open format; it shouldn't be difficult to get the data out to view in other Markdown apps. I'll note that there is also a Markdown export option. Perhaps there is an opportunity for a tool to convert the database to and from a collection of Markdown files for editing in other apps.
