Some virtual keyboards have keys to move the caret position left or right in the text, using those keys while editing text in Daily You seems to have some quirks.
I use AnySoftKeyboard, but I also reproduced it in FlorisBoard.
While editing text using those keyboards the currently edited word is underlined (as the context for suggestions and such, I presume). If one uses a "tool keyboard layout" with the left and right keys to move to a different word, the moment the caret leaves the word and the word stops being underlined, the keyboard closes the tool window and goes back to the main input layout (like something about the text input resets). This obviously prevents from navigating more than one word at a time. This is not limited to a "tool laytout" - AnySoftKeyboard has arrow keys in the main layout, holding such a key usually allows to move the caret position in the text indefinitely, but when the caret leaves the word in Daily You the navigation just stops until the key is pressed again.
It works slightly differently in FlorisBoard (only the part from beginning of the word to the caret position is underlined), so only navigation forward seems to reset the keyboard.
How to reproduce it with AnySoftKeyboard:
- Type "Test test" in any text field in Daily You (the main text input, template editor fields, etc.).
- Press and hold the "<" arrow key to navigate to the beginning of the text.
- The caret navigation stops between the words (if the tool keyboard layout was used, it disappears).
How to reproduce it with FlorisBoard:
- Type "Test" in any text field in Daily You.
- Put the caret at the beginning of the word.
- Use the "> Arrow right" key of FlorisBoard (available by pressing "the three dots" menu) to move forward in text.
- The keyboard returns to the main layout after moving past the second letter in the word.
None of that happens while using the same keyboards in different apps like "Notes".
The app is great otherwise, thank you for developing and maintaining it! :)
