Keep an updated list of EIDA nodes

In EIDA, the nodes are not graved in stone and the list evolves. The tool should keep up to date automatically, without blocking the usage of the tool.

In EIDA, there is no official list of nodes that could be discoverable.

There is the global routing system https://www.orfeus-eu.org/eidaws/routing/ that knows who has wich datasets. But we lack a datacenter name.

Right now we use https://orfeus-eu.org/epb/nodes for getting the nodes data. If I get it right what you want to do is use https://www.orfeus-eu.org/eidaws/routing/1/globalconfig?format=fdsn , which takes a lot of time, cache the data so the user doesnt have to wait everytime? @jschaeff

Yes, routing/1/globalconfig is exactly what we want.

It surely needs to be cached. In order to not design complex refresh systems, I would suggest to present a button to the user that refreshes the list of nodes. Or do you have any other suggestion ?
Also provide something when, on 1st run a10y is not able to make the list of nodes.

Note that the URL of the availability webservice for each node appears in the output.

@jschaeff I managed to create a cache file. The version I created restarts the application when user presses the button for loading nodes and gets nodes from cache file I think is a safe way to ensure the list is reloaded do you think this is a problem?

I could not test it. This is what I did:

git pull
git checkout cache-nodes
uv run src/a10y/a10y.py

I could not find any refreshing command or button.

Your reload strategy seems fine to me. A message should be printed to the user "The list of EIDA nodes has been updated. Please restart a10y to reload it."

a10y is the old file I just keep it for safety reason maybe i should delete it. Please try the main.py

Sorry , try uv run a10y or v run -m a10y.main. Both should work.

uv run -m a10y.main works, because it's using the local code and not a10y alreay installed on my system.

Nice work.
I would like:

• at first run, when you fetch the nodes, there should be a message on the terminal or something for the user to be patient
• the "refresh nodes" button is too big (!!! 😱 !!!) and should be on the left with the rest of the nodes

The "select all Nodes" button does not work anymore.

Change to a "select all" button and "unselect all" button.

And, as a matter of fact, nodes selection is inoperent. If I select just one node, a10y sends the request to all of them ...

I changed the UI to this. I fixed the select all - deselect all button and in my tests the requests works to each node. I will work on the please be patient message now.
