Can you fix the banner image so that it's fully shown on the top of the page?

I would suggest:

background: #ffffff url({{ "/assets/img/" | append: site.header_image | relative_url }}) center/cover no-repeat;

Instead of using the separate background-size properties. These are only useful for ~2009 era browsers and a lot of them don't support 'cover' anyway.

Thanks! There're still some problems, since the image is not always fully shown (incl. the copyright message). I also just cropped the image so that we see less water (prev. image in header_bak.jpg). Now, can we assure that always the full width and height of it are shown?

See the commit above. You can force the image to be stretched to 100% h/w of the page header... I think that looks terrible though. The aspect ratio is way off.

Not sure whether I understand, but can't we just have the banner image the same width as the text? Then it should look fine.
