What happened?

big open gaps that water and oxygen can flow through?

womp womp. magic fire barrier.

fire cannot spread from the hull it was started in, seemingly ever. not through gaps, doors, hatches, not at all.

honorable mention that while the particles do go through gaps, the damaging part does not. so you can stand entirely engulfed in flames while unharmed.

Reproduction steps

1. start a fire in a hull
2. try to get it to spread
3. it just doesn't. broken wall? nope, magic fire barrier. open door? nope. magic fire barrier. etc.

Thank you for the report! should be fixed in the next unstable build / hotfix.

note:
Fire spread is now based on gaps between hulls, on a timer and chance to spread.

It also has changes to vertical damage and will damage where the particles generally reach. the range of this can be visible from debugdraw as a vertical red line from the fire source.

Awesome!! now, if only it damaged installations like junction boxes and engines and reactors and stuff. fire may truly become a danger
