FEATURE: Backups of your MC Worlds

Suggestion

I want it to have manual and automatic backups/snapshots of your entire mc folder (instance or all instances' folder)/world folder(s).

Benefit

Long story short If someone's mc/world folder for whatever reason disappears, they could always go back and restore their worlds.

This suggestion is unique

• I have searched the issue tracker and did not find an issue describing my suggestion, especially not one that has been rejected.

this is an actual good idea Great j*b author it would also be useful if the backup would be custom like to an external server or a external space / drive could be cool so you can show your friend by yeeting them a HDD(/SSD) and would be cool if it wasn't automatic tho not a fan of heavy application that do stuff automatically in the background that cause older laptop or low-end hardware to sufffer would like to have the option off by default ngl.

Yeah, that's actually also a great idea. For automatic backups, I really like them because come on we're way too lazy and can just forget to take backups. If that happens even a single time, half of the purpose of this idea would just go down the drain. For performance, there could be CPU, RAM and SSD limits on how much could the Backup System uses (Especially SSD cuz I think that really matters more in coping files, could also be CPU & RAM if it compresses it, which I would also like). But as always, we could just have a option to turn automatic backups off though I would never do that because of reasons above. Good Idea though.

instead of limiting CPU or RAM it would also be great if you could choose if you want to save mod data or only the saves folder cause that's actually where the world data is backing up that instead of the whole instance would be a little lower on performance and backing up data could also just be a check list like

examples

• mod data (like journey map, Replay mod recordings etc)
• texture packs
• world data (the saves folder where MC usually saves world data)
• shaders

etc so the backups would be a little customizable (would be a lot of work tho i don't blame the devs if they don't think to add this xD)

Yeah, even more fine tuning would be great. Dude I just hope this actually gets added even if it's only like a backup button to backup a instance.
