About the new UI

Hi, first of all thanks for this app. I'm using it since last 6 months and its great to tracks drugs.
Last update introduced a new UI paradigm that is very hard to understand. In the previous UI it was super easy to mark as taken a drug. Now you have to tap on the icon on the left the doesn't look like a call to action but mainly a decorative icon. Tap on the full row allow you to edit the drug. I found it very confusing.
Hope other users will confirm my doubt. In any case thanks because it helps me remind my drugs when needed ❤️

Thanks for your feedback @fabiosirna. I am happy to refine the new UI based on suggestions that are provided by the users. I have designed the new UI based on user feedback, but the decision to use the icon on the left side as a button was mine. So maybe this acutally could use some improvement, just I am not sure how.

Hi @Futsch1 , I'm sharing an concept I drafted form MedTimer.

Consider this a wireframe, no claim to be a final design:

• each card has a clear 'Taken' call-to-action
• the card shows a decorative icon, to which you ideally assign custom colors
• the card shows the name, dose and notes in addition to the time at which the medicine was taken; if taken late it shows the difference
• there is a 'Take all' call-to-action to quickly complete all the actions.

Thanks a lot for your suggestion, I really appreciate the effort you spent here.

The proposal is somewhat a mix between what the previous UI looked like and the current one looks like. What I really like about the new UI is that there are no buttons required, I think this makes the UI look much cleaner (because in addition to the "Take" button, you would also require a "Skip" button and for those reminders already past, it would be labeled "Taken" or "Skipped" or "Re-raise", making the whole view look a bit cluttered). It is a required feature to be able to mark doses taken or skipped both in advance and afterwards.

So do you have an idea how to make it more obvious to the user that the icon on the left is actually a button?

I start with the idea that the ultimate goal of the app is to remind me to take my medication every day.
Once the list setup is done, the user flow I imagine (simplified) is:

• I receive a notification
• I take/do not take the medicine
• I update the status in the daily log

In this daily view, cards can be sorted by hour/timeline or by priority (e.g., medicine not taken that day is grouped at the top, non-taken section).

Hiding the buttons, just makes it harder to find the actions. Also the design is that of a checkbox and it looks like you can quickly mark an item, but in reality the ray menu is shown. If I have a list of 5 medicines, I have to tap 10 times to log them all.

As for the actions:

• the main actions —taken and skipped—can be shown on the card, and also can be offered to the user directly in the notification, so the user does not necessarily have to open the app and log the medicament directly from the notification center;
• re-raise, it is not clear what this is for; if I have taken the medicine it is 'taken', if I skipped it voluntarily it is 'skipped'; if I don't take it because I forgot it, I count on the system to offer me the notification until a decision is made; if I really can't take the medicine at that time in the notification there could be a 'postpone' or 'snooze' to postpone;
• delete, in my opinion is a secondary action, you could put it in the medicine detail (the one that is accessed by tapping on the item).

What I miss most in the new UI is the filter for all open notifications (due meds that were not taken), regardless of date.

This allowed me to think not in terms of dates, but simply what is due or not, which is crucial in the early morning and past midnight. In the current UI, I have to manually choose each day and look at the icons. I think this makes it more likely to forget meds.

Have you seen that there is now a filter bar which enables you to quickly see only the meds that were raised, but not taken? Just tap the bell icon in the bar and you will see those where reminders are still active or click the x icon to see those that were skipped. The selection is kept when navigating between days.

Yes, I noticed. This however still filters by day, so to find out whether or not you have missed meds you'd have to check each day manually, and depending on how far behind you might have missed something, you wouldn't ever know.

Can you better describe the problem you are trying to solve? In the screen I drafted the view is by day. If I understand you correctly you would like some sort of report that lists a history of medications taken or not taken.

@fabiosirna Yes, emphasis on not taken. What I am describing is not actually a new feature I'd like to see, rather it's a feature that existed and was lost in the new UI, the "Show only open" filter button in the top right corner of the bottom split of the former "Overview" screen. You can still view it in the README screenshot.
