ToxCore/MainScreen creation failed with: failed to decrypt save file!

I'm getting ToxCore/MainScreen creation failed with: failed to decrypt save file! a lot, even though I'm selecting the right tox save and entering the right password. Because of this, profiles in Tomato are completely ephemeral for me - I can use them once, but never again load them.

Odd. Did you try creating an encrypted profile with eg qTox and opening it with tomato?

edit: Yes, looks like creating encrypted profiles broke at some point. I will fix that.

Thank you for that! The profile was made with Tomato and has a password I wrote down (including solanaceae_ecosystem and solanaceae_tox_tunnel, I entered a password, added myself, sent a few messages, tried Voip, then exited. When I tried to reopen the profile, it did not reopen, even though I was entering the right password.

I have tested the new release right away, but unfortunately still no luck. Windows 7 Ultimate and Windows 10 test systems. When I tried to load one of the profiles with qTox, it still wouldn't open (wouldn't accept the correct password I was entering).

To be clear, that project is empty as of now. It is just the plugin template instantiated. Feel free to watch that space though. :)

Was that before or after the update? As a simple defensive measure, I xor the password while it is in memory, to defend against generic memory scanning, that are not targeting tomato specifically.
Before, I forgot to initially encrypt it, if the file did not already exist. So the new file used your password xored.

I can (still) load encrypted profiles created by qtox just fine with tomato.

Both before and after the update. I am testing further, and new profiles created with v770 are permanent and I can log in to them again, but I have not yet had any luck logging in to historical profiles (so far I have only used for testing so no huge loss). All profiles I use with Tomato are created with Tomato.

I am now using a launch.bat with tomato -p plugin_ngcft1.dll -p plugin_ngchs2.dll -p plugin_transfer_auto_accept.dll -p plugin_mfs_wip.dll -p plugin_tox_upnp.dll -p plugin_plugin_template.dll

Is there a way to make the colour theme persistent and to hide some of the ImgUI test buttons/windows? It reverts to light mode on every launch, and I'm wanting to get my less-technical brothers using it, and most of the menu bar seems to be debug entries.

Right, there is no UI currently to change the password, especially not using raw bytes, since xor ascii is unlikely to be writable.

Someone could write a password change tool, but your case is so specific, it would be a one time only too for you (or technically any tomato user that created a profile with a broken version).

Right. Persistence and settings specifically are pretty lacking in tomato right now. I default to the SDL reported system default for dark/light, but I think win7 is missing that api.
Yes the settings menus is very bad right now. Yes the ObjectStore menu is very debuggy, but you currently require the stream manager ui for proper voip routing, since that ui is very lacking too.

I think we should open a bunch of tracking issues, and/or add threads to #19 or a similar discussion.

Dont load plugin_plugin_template.dll, as I said it has no function yet. (beside the test ui in question)
