A virtual transaction is a special type of transaction for efficient partial reconstruction of the merkle tree. It can be requested from the network, and has a branch and a truck reference as a normal one. The only semantic difference is the additional restriction that is that only a virtual transaction or a milestone can reference a virtual transaction.
