wgrib2 with ipolates is required by the global workflow where the output of the weather model PGB files are regridded to 0.25x0.25, 0.5x0.5, and 1.0x1.0 degree grids. As-is, attempting to using wgrib2 on Hercules spack-stack 1.9.1 installation yields the following:
