No longer seeing in discoverable BT devices

My controller used to show up when searching for BT devices and i never pair it. I installed the software and now it doesn't appear anymore but still appears when searching for BT devices on my laptop. (Original white WiiMote)

In the past, I have noticed Bluetooth behavior changes being related to Windows updates, so it makes these hard to pinpoint. It's especially annoying that here in 2025 there's still not what I would consider a clean implementation for Bluetooth integration. I mean BLE isn't so bad but that's not what we're working with here.

Can you still get it to pair to windows on it's own through the standard Windows connection process?

I can on my laptop but not on my main PC anymore for some reason. And even on my latop im having trouble even with it "connected" on windows the blue lights don't stay on and it doesn't show up in WiinUSoft (or Pro if i tried that too I can't remember).

My main goal was to be able to use my Wiimote to play lego starwars on steam because I used to have it for the Wii. I also wanted to try out the motion controls and maybe try using it in a driving game.

Getting it connected can be such a pain sometimes. I'm looking at alternative connection methods but there's also only so much I can do from the software side.

Motion controls is still a bit limited in their implementation, but WiinUSoft can still do shaking for an action and tilting for driving.
