extraPackages do not load when invoking the package by itself (?)

so idk how I just noticed this, but the extraPackages only load when i do nix run .#zsh, even though i have the package imported in my configuration.nix as inputs.self.{whatever}, but running that (by opening kitty, its also my DefaultUserShell), does not load oh-my-posh etc, and then zsh complains about them not being found. My config is under Mrid22/nixos-config if that was a confusing description

UPDATE: so the same thing happens when i launch my terminal emulator, and have to mannually run the zsh command now for it to add the pkgs? even though that is my default user shell

when you set it as you default shell you will have to reboot when you change something, as that will not auto-reload afaik

So i tried rebooting and that did not work. it was already my shell before the extraPackages changes though. The error is that zsh adds the appropriate lines in the zshrc when launching kitty, but the command is not found until i mannually run the zsh command and then it adds those packages. This might have something to do with when these packages are added ( during runtime)? because when you launch kitty with zsh, the process running isnt technically zsh but kitty (ps -a has no zsh entry, but it does have a kitty/kitten entry), but after running the zsh command manually, ps -a also has a zsh entry meaning the zsh process is running, and the runtime dependencies get added
