Request: Save download URLs of mods for easy updating

I'd greatly like the ability in BG3 Mod Manager for BG3MM to know/remember the URLs where I downloaded my mods so I can easily update them, or, better yet, prompt me to automatically update them. So many of these updated so frequently!

I second that request. I made my own request without searching well enough so I'm just going to bump this one instead. In my discussion I wrote:

I'd like to propose a new feature. Simple in concept, unknown to me if difficult to implement in the current way BG3MM operates.

Version management of mods is always a long process. Since it would be quite a big feature to ask to scrape or access some sort of API to read the latest mod versions info off of websites, I'm proposing an slight QoL feature instead. The ability to add some metadata to mod. Specifically, a URL. Could be added by the author and/or the user. That URL could be easily accessed by right clicking a mod (then Go to mod page) and would directly open a mod's page no matter the source (mod.io, github, nexus...).

I know you can simply search for them, obviously. But adding this small feature could save a lot of time to many people when the modlist becomes longer. This would be helpful while troubleshooting or remembering what that mod is (read mod description quickly), as well when manually checking for mod updates. This behaviour already exist in MO2 and I think it would be a great addition to BG3MM.

Auto updating would depend on where you got them. GitHub? Sure. Nexus? No. It would be able to get you to that page, but not download it.

Indeed, we would need Nexus Mods API integration to fetch versioning and generate download links from a registered accounts. This is I think quite out of scope for BG3MM. A compromise/QoL improvement would be a simple URL metadata for each mod that would open said URL in browser. The rest would be done by the user. This would go a long way to reduce the time spent looking for updates.

Even just being able to scrape and tell you if it's got an update would be fine. If the mod author includes in the metadata a github url to pull that, it would be nice but that's only going to work for mods that do that.
