Launcher crashes when starting with this mod applied

@joachimhag16-cloud, by any chance you are using laptop with an additional monitor and main laptop monitor is disabled in windows settings? i used to run in the same error, tried to enable laptop monitor, then reload launcher and voila, no error.

Yes, and I tried enabling the laptop monitor and then TurtleWoW would recognize all the resolutions for my laptop, but not my 3440x1440 secondary where I actually want to play the game. The addon does now recognize both monitors but if I try to do any changes it keeps giving that same crash.

I have 2 external monitors and my laptop connected to a docker, the laptop screen lid is closed. I try enable multiMonitorFix but Game keeps crashing.

When I open the laptop screen lid, it works, game does not crash. But I still cannot have the lid closed it seems.

For me this addon/mod doesn't work at all, at any stage and situation of trying to use it, i get the crash in the screenshot in OPs post.

There is a workaround of disabling your display adapter's device drivers in device manager for your integrated graphics card and setting the display projection (windows key+P) to "PC Screen Only".

! Doing this will fool the game client into thinking your 2nd monitor is your only monitor and thusly allows you to set the appropriate settings for that monitor, however it seems this need to be done after restarting the system.

If it still looks stretched out just go into video settings and uncheck the maximize windowed and then check it again and it doesn't look stretched.

However this workaround will obviously not allow you to use dual monitors while set, it just allows you to play on ultrawide 2nd monitor without it looking stretched. Since I always run with my laptop monitor off anyway and always just use my 3440x1440p 2nd monitor, it works for me.

This mod wasn't exactly designed with dynamic (intermittently turning off or on) monitor setup in mind. If the monitor layout changes, and the preference identifier exceeds the number of enabled monitors, it will obviously misbehave. Clamping that number (with a guess) might cause the wrong monitor to be selected for the preferred resolutions.

A reasonable solution that I can think of, is changing the config so that it can be trained on multiple monitor counts.
For example (abstraction)

if (monitorCount == 2) return 0;
if (monitorCount == 3) return 1;

and the config could look like

2 0
3 1

The issue is that I don't really have a setup to easily test this scenario with, so me implementing this would just be guesswork. If anyone with this kind of issue has some programming skills (please, no vibecode), then opening a pull request with the changes upon testing it out would be ideal.

I am having the same issue on a standard desktop pc. 4 monitors. it works if I set preferred to device 0 (the default monitor anyways), but it crashes if i set it to anything else than 0).
