There's a bunch of great Python-based game engines out there, from Pygame all the way to Panda3D. Modipulate ought to support these.

It looks like there's several ways to go about this. For one, we could take the same approach as ModipulateLua, where we have a binary shared library that wraps Modipulate directly.

Secondly, there's a Python built-in module called Ctypes which provides a bridge for dynamically loading libraries in Python, passing parameters, etc. This looks intriguing because there's no additional binaries involved; but it comes at a significant performance cost. It's also a bit dangerous because we might break the bindings but forget to update our Ctypes module until users yelled at us.

Lastly, there's SWIG and Cython, both of which provide their own glue. These have their own toolchains and requirements, and may be more complex than we need.

Based on this, I think we should try simply using the standard Python API. Performance matters, and I don't want to do anything too sophisticated or bring in any additional requirements unless it's necessary.
