What happened?
When processing many variables in the ADF, the time series creation process can create a long period of dead time where no messages are being passed to a terminal window. This can cause the window to time out and close the connection without properly creating the time series files.

Extra info
There needs to be some sort of message in the python script that is printed every so often, or maybe the call to ncrcat can have dbg_lvl set to a number so that something gets printed to the screen.
