Name output files based on offset from initial condition

Currently I get output files that have the date (in the format of my choice!).

Instead of that, can there be an option for output files to be named like: file_%3hr.nc; not by the "hour" of the day but hour of the forecast (from a given start time of the simulation), for example: file_001.nc (hour 1), file_002.nc (2 hr forecast), ..., file_192.nc (day 8 of forecast: 192 hr).

Context

• Format of the output from the GDAS/GFS follows this file template: gfs.t00z.atmf%3HR.nc; if this URL is broken (because the date you are accessing it is NOT 20251230, please adjust the URL accordingly.
• If the model (say, MOM6) writes out files with the name in ⬆️ format, then we do not have to the rename files.
• That will simplify our life!
