Networking and System Stability Issues After Installing NVIDIA Drivers on Ubuntu 23.04

Issue:
I encountered severe networking and system stability issues after attempting to install NVIDIA drivers on my Ubuntu 23.04 machine. The problems manifested as follows:

1. Loss of Ethernet Connection: After installing the NVIDIA drivers from the Ubuntu apt store and rebooting, the system lost its ability to connect to the internet via Ethernet. Despite the cable being connected and functional before the driver installation, the connection was not reestablished.

2. System Freeze and Unresponsiveness: Upon rebooting and restoring the Ethernet connection through a BIOS reset, the system experienced freezing and became unresponsive after a short period. This freeze occurred even with minimal usage, making the system unusable.

3. Failure to Reboot: Subsequent attempts to reboot the system proved unsuccessful. The system did not recover and became unresponsive, leading to an inability to use the PC.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Install NVIDIA drivers from the Ubuntu apt store on Ubuntu 23.04.
2. Reboot the system.

Expected Behavior:

• Successful installation of NVIDIA drivers without affecting network connectivity or causing system instability.

Actual Behavior:

• Loss of Ethernet connection, system freeze, and subsequent failure to reboot.

Environment:

• Operating System: Ubuntu 23.04
• NVIDIA Drivers
• Machine: AMD® Ryzen 5 2600 six-core processor × 12, NV138, 16 GB RAM

Additional Information:

• BIOS reset was required to restore Ethernet connection, but the issues persisted.
• System became unresponsive after a short period of use post-driver installation.

Note:
Due to the severity of the issues encountered, I had to install a new OS (Ubuntu 20.04) to regain functionality on my machine.
