PHP code bundling - obfuscation and hardening

Hello.
Concerning this issue, wouldn't be possible to use something like phpbolt?
I remember having used it (or something very similar to it in the past), where all of the php code is encryped,
And it could only be decrypted via the interpreter where the phpbolt extension is active-
