xDrip Phone Watch Synch Problem

My watch is the Sony Smartwatch 3 using the Wear OS version 2.13.0.199332111.gms.apk. My phone is the Samsung Galaxy S5. The watch is a dedicated standalone data collector from the Dexcom G6 transmitter.
Using an older version of xDrip, dating from 2020, my watch and phone had been perfectly synced for the last year and automatically resynced after separation.
Last week after about 1 hour of separation my phone did not resync with the watch and not indicate the BG levels. To fix the problem I first updated xDrip to version 2022.01.31 which did nothing to help the problem.
To solve the problem, I performed the following steps:

1. Set the watch to the Factory Default Values.
2. On the phone:
   a) Use the Wear OS app to unpair the watch. Make sure it is the correct watch ID
   b) On the phone Bluetooth settings unpair the watch.
   c) Use the Wear OS app and follow the steps to both pair and configure the watch.
3. After the steps above be patient since it takes about 10 minutes before the ability to select the desired xDrip watch display.
   I had followed others that also had this problem but none of the suggestions worked.
   Hopefully this resynching is OK for at least another year. There must be a permanent solution but must involve the xDrip program.
