P.O.V. "teleportation" error

While zooming towards Macroglossum stellatarum, Samia cynthia and, I assume, other insects somewhat closely related to them, the zooming function seems to stop working properly after a certain amount of zooming and start glitching and teleporting the point of view around without ever getting to the destination.
Even while zooming manually it'll start glitching out and makes it impossible to reach the destination because moving around seems disabled after a certain level of zoom.

Can you remember which visualisation shape you were using when this happened, or was it the default spiral? Is this on a phone/tablet or desktop computer? I can't immediately replicate this, so any more clues welcome (and one of my standard test cases has been zooming into the Elephant hawk-moth, so this does get exercised regularly).

The symptoms you describe make sense though. OneZoom chooses an "Anchor" node to base calculations from. As this anchor node becomes more remote we eventually run out of numerical precision to do this smoothly. Of course, it shouldn't have ever got to this point.

I tried both the regular spiral and the "balanced" shape. I was using Firefox browser on windows Laptop, but now it seems to not do that again when trying to replicate the error so there must have been a local issue of some kind. It can't be something I've done to the page because I tried refreshing it and even closing and reopening the brower and then immediately search the species and it still gave me this issue. Thanks! Yes, I can reproduce this in "balanced" mode. This should be enough to go on.

Small update (don't know if this should be in another issue): while zooming towards Amanita muscaria with Balanced visualisation, this issue happened again, I tried changing to Spiral and search again and it immediately changed back to Balanced recreating the issue.
I tried returning back to Biota, clearing the link from anything other than the main part and refresh the page, but it still reset to Balanced; I had to close the tab and open a new one to fix it

The base issue is still there sadly, I did write a fix here, but doing so causes an entirely different bug to bubble up, the cause of that I've not been able to pin down yet.

Yes, this is somewhat separate, and may well have been fixed by #870, but worth keeping here for now to help reproduce it.
