At this point, the robot must be able to find corners, map the edges of the board and from there be able to erase the entire board.

This will be both the ability for the robot to move under its own power and its ability to drive in a straight line. This will require implementing code for the motors and motor controller along with a controls system to drive in a straight line. A P-controller or even PID controller needs to be implemented.
