Output File Name Suggestion

in the Output File name: please don't require a file extension, and when the Generate button is pressed, if no .html ending is there, add it.

Right now someone can enter incorrect extensions, or no extension at all, and the file will still be generated.

Alternately, have the Generate button greyed out until a valid extension is added to the file name. (I'd prefer the first version, but this would work too.)

Despite calling it "character sheet generator", this app works as a general utility for handlebars for any text file type for the output. There's nothing in it specific to making .html files.

If you want, I could probably do something putting the output extension based on the template file name, such as index.html.hbs for the template file name to add .html extension for the generated output file

I hadn't realised this. Is there an occasion you'd use it to create any other extension that .html?

Your proposal could work, but seems a bit clunky.
Could you add a dropdown (or a text box) next to the file name, so you enter the bit before the extension, and the extension separately. The program then remembers which selection you have made (but yo u can of course change it later).

I don't think splitting it into two text boxes would be better than having the user put filename into one textbox.

Even if they generate the file with the wrong extension or not extension, they can just change the name of the generated file to change or add the extension. The file contents are the same regardless of what extension is on the file name.
