Have you tried changing to switch mode? iOS connects to switch pro natively. I have a few controllers/adapters from 8bitdo and switch mode makes iOS think the device is the switch pro and then you can go to settings and reposition whatever buttons you want. I just ordered one yesterday. If you still have issues I can assist when I get it. |
I tried both other modes and for some strange reason they didn't work properly as stated before. When I said they half worked I ment both other modes literally had half the buttons working with the correct mapping, and the rest didn't seem to do anything. |
If you download this game controller tester app on the app store. it will show buttons that are read as mfi buttons. if you see them all there, what you can do is go into the iOS/iPadOS system settings -> general -> game controller -> and here you can create a profile and swap buttons as needed. |
I got the micro today and it's working fine. I'm able to swap the left thumb stick with the d pad, that's the default on the dpad on switch mode. I checked the firmware it's the latest. you can check to see if your version has an older firmware, you can upgrade and maybe that's the problem.besides that, I'm able to remap the mfi buttons. the only caveat is you can't remap the start/select/home/star. if you're still having issues, could you share exactly which buttons are giving you issues. |
I was using that app you suggested, and part of the buttons were not actually sending back a response in switch mode, but after you said yours was working I redid the firmware a second time and it now actually has inputs even if they are switched around. But, it would still be nice to be able to map the start button in keyboard mode for a few of the games even if a number of the ones I do don't care about it. |
I've just got a 8bitdo micro and while the other modes that aren't keyboard only half work I prefer to do the mapping myself, but the iOS app for the controller doesn't allow for left shift and any other side specific modifier keys.
If you could just throw in an alternative key to map on the default keys for the next app store release that would make it functional in my book.
