Let users collectively buy ads off the platform every month

Determine how many ads we will need to cover operational expenses, and issue a certain number of ad spots in order to cover the costs. Then allow users to contribute financially to "purchase" those spots so that they don't go to traditional advertisers. They would then simply not show ads for the number that have been bought out. This way, if the community is active and cares about preventing advertising, then we reach our funding goals, and if not, the advertising will cover it.

Perhaps give subscriber benefits and promote people to sign up monthly with a small donation, for a regular money stream.
