Putting custom translation strings?

Hey!
I know I can use `{% t .. %}` to create a new translatable key.. but how will i make this key available to my PO files so i can translate it? Is there some sort of manual compiling i need to do? I added the above translation key to my form/card.liquid and uploaded it.
