I think longer-term, we should have SSL/TLS setup with OAuth2. For now, not sure yet.

For simple testing in the short term, if we want to secure access to the server, we could just use ssh port forwarding with the key we already have on there.

Another option I think might work would be to have the server listen on a named socket on the server filesystem, and write data to that via scp, sftp, or sshfs.
