How to contribute as a beginner #3

Description

@Kato-Trevor

Hello @Ronlin1, I'd like to add a few opportunities to the README.md, but I'm uncertain where to start. The contributing.md file only shows the criteria for a pull request, but not how the pull request is to be made.

Instinctively, my expectation of the workflow for contributing to this repo was:

  1. Create a branch from main
  2. Add my changes
  3. Make a pull request and await a review by a maintainer
  4. Once it is approved, the newly created branch is merged to main

Unfortunately, I can't see the New branch button on the branches page of this repo, so maybe my expectation differs from what was intended. If the above steps do not constitute the intended workflow for making pull requests, could you please update the contributing.md to include the workflow for contributing to the repo. I think this would be helpful, especially to beginners in open source who would like to contribute to this repo.
