Feature Request: multiple windows

I would like to be able to use Maestro for multiple projects, and I keep different projects in different macOS Desktops, but apparently I cannot do this with Maestro, as it appears to be limited to a single window.

Please enable the creation of separate windows with separate tabs. 🙏🏼

Yes, exactly. Since one of the purposes of Maestro is to allow working on multiple things at one time, it seems useful to be able to split it across different windows so that different projects can be more easily managed by having their own macOS Spaces/Desktops.

This strikes me as being VERY useful. I despise VS Code's Microsoftisms, longtime MacOS/PyCharm user here, but the agents orchestration with Antigravity has captured me fully. One of the big frustrations has been that context is anchored at the level of a Github repo. If I had multiple windows, there are three different things I do (dayjob, pet project, Cicada 3301 puzzle) and I'd leave the context for each running on its own MacOS desktop.

Turns out this is far more complicated than I thought for true multi-window. What is more trivial, is the ability to pop tabs out of main window. What are your thoughts on this approach? @brandonzylstra

Do you mean that every new window would begin life as a tab in the main window, but then it would be possible for the main window to "birth" a new window that contains an existing tab?

The Big Picture

Users will be able to drag agent tabs out into separate windows and work with multiple Maestro windows simultaneously. This is similar to how browser tabs can be torn off into new windows, or how VS Code supports multiple editor windows.

Key User Interactions

Creating New Windows

• Drag a tab outside the window → Creates a new window containing that session
• Right-click a tab → "Move to New Window" → Same effect via context menu
• Drop a tab onto another Maestro window → Moves the session to that window's tab bar

Window Behavior

• Primary Window (first window): Cannot be closed; closing it quits the app
• Secondary Windows: Can be closed freely; their sessions return to the primary window
• Every window is fully-featured: Left sidebar, main panel, and right panel all present
• New sessions (Cmd+N): Always open in the primary window

Session Visibility

• Left sidebar: Shows ALL sessions across all windows, with a badge indicating which window each is in
• Tab bar: Shows only sessions in THIS window
• Clicking a session open in another window: Focuses that window instead of duplicating

Window Identification

• Secondary windows show a number badge (e.g., "Maestro [2]") in the title bar
• Helps identify windows in Cmd+Tab, Mission Control, or when switching

Persistence

• Window layouts (position, size, which sessions) are saved on quit and restored on restart
• Each window remembers its own panel collapse states (left sidebar, right panel)
• Graceful handling if a monitor is removed—windows reposition to available displays

Feature Compatibility

Edge Cases Handled

• Can't drag the last tab out of the primary window (must keep at least one)
• Rapid tab dragging has race condition protection
• Multi-monitor setups fully supported with display memory
