Currently word count is only visible when clicking 'add block' while editing the grant application record. As a grant manager, I need a way to easily check the word count of the current content block that I am working on.

As a grant writer, section length is a very common consideration, and it would be helpful if there was a straightforward approach for tracking the current length.

Ideally this information could easily be accessed within the 'edit application' wizard, as well as on the 'selected items' related list on a grant application record, and on the content block record itself.

For the edit application wizard, this could be solved by adding a 'button' to calculate word count and character count, or by displaying it in real time (which may have performance impact?)

The rest would prob require a custom field on the objects?

During initial designs and sprints we accept as fact that text data on grant will be fuid and often change while grant in progress.
For that reason we chose a real-time view only word count option.
That same part could be also added to editor per Section component that manage text on each section.
During tests we did not get feedback on slow perfomance result from real-time word-counts. Not sure how lrge of a problem that can be.

Persisting such data make sense fo complete grants, as finished application we can consider it as static willl not likely to change.

Currently when editing a content block in the grant editor, the only way I know of to view the word count for a content block is to:

1. save content block to library as a new item
2. go into the 'add content block' wizard and see the word count for the block

this does not work well for the grant manager.

The list of 'buttons' on the content block could include 'view word count' which would make it easy for a grant manager to view the word count for a section. Or perhaps the word count could be displayed next to the section name once the section is saved.
