Feature: Tiered workshop repair levels (home workshop vs dealer) #48
Description
Feature Request
Suggested by: @sim2reality (originally posted in #43)
Description
Currently, Workshop Repair works the same at all workshop locations -- restoring reliability up to the current ceiling. The proposal is to introduce tiered repair capability based on workshop type:
| Tier | Location | Capability |
|---|---|---|
| Field | OBD Scanner | One-time diagnostic + reliability boost (max 80%) |
| Mobile | Service Truck | Gradual restoration (reliability + ceiling) |
| Home | Player-placed workshops | Intermediate -- repair most faults, but not the worst |
| Dealer | Dealership workshops | Full reliability restoration to ceiling |
The idea is that players could handle routine and moderate repairs at their home workshop, only needing to transport vehicles to the dealer for the most severe issues. This creates a meaningful gameplay loop around workshop placement and repair logistics.
Context
From sim2reality's comment:
"Would be great to have another level above OBD Field repair and onsite Service Van repairs, but lower than Dealer Workshop for Home Workshops. So we could repair all but the worst faults before having to transport the vehicles to the Main Dealer."
Open Questions
- How to detect home vs dealer workshops (trigger type, placement flag, or zone-based?)
- What should the home workshop ceiling be? (e.g., restores up to 85% instead of full ceiling?)
- Should this affect fluid changes / restoration cooldowns as well?
