Issue in float_active_app.sh - Nothing happens in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

After I run the script float_active_app.sh, nothing happens and the active icons don't float on the top.

Hello , nshankar ! Thank you for the comment. Can you please clarify : you mean your Unity Launcher is not changing its order , correct ? I am assuming that you're running Ubuntu with Unity environment because that's what this script is written for. I've been running this script in 16.04 and it still works there perfectly fine. I'll ask a few friends to test as well. Would be also nice to know example of script running with set -x option added to the top of the script .

The purpose of the script is to move the active application icon to the top of the Unity launcher

Sorry to call in late. I will run it with -x and get back to you. Any updates in the meantime?

I tried with this command - sudo ./float_active_app.sh -x
it hangs and needs to be killed with ^c (ctrl-c). Please let us know if I am missing something.

@nshankar you're not supposed to run it with sudo, just run as regular user.

I tried to run it without sudo at first.
The terminal hangs. Need ctrl-c to take it to life.

@nshankar what's your Ubuntu version ? are you using Unity desktop ? also, set -x part was wrong. You need to add it inside the script.

I am using Ubuntu 16.04 Desktop with Unity.

@nshankar OK, open the script file. Where you see

ARGV0="$0"
ARGC=$#

Change it to

set -x
ARGV0="$0"
ARGC=$#

Save, close, and run the script
