Google recently introduced a new Agent-to-Agent (A2A) protocol for agent communication, which is gaining popularity. Thanks to Google's contributions, the protocol is developing rapidly and reaching higher levels of maturity.
Background
Our project currently uses a custom agent-protocol implementation for A2A communication (https://agentprotocol.ai/). Google's A2A standard offers several advantages including wider adoption and active development.
Goal
Migrate AutoGPT's existing agent-protocol A2A implementation to adopt Google's A2A protocol standard. This migration would benefit our project in several ways:
Leverage the rapid development and ongoing contributions in the Google repository
Improve interoperability with other systems adopting this standard
Reduce maintenance burden by following an established specification
Position AutoGPT to stay current with evolving industry standards
