After updating the Flatpak runtime from GNOME 48 → 49 (as suggested by the EOL warning), I tried building and running the app locally and ran into a couple of issues.

1. Python dependency issue (posthog → six)

During Flatpak build, the process failed with:

No matching distribution found for six>=1.5

This happens because Flatpak builds run in offline mode, and six is not bundled as a dependency for posthog in the manifest. I had to manually add six (via flatpak-pip-generator) and ensure it is built before python3-modules.json.

2. Runtime crash on GNOME 49 (SVG / glycin)

After fixing the build, the app launches but immediately crashes with:

Gdk-ERROR: Resource path ... frog.svg is not a valid image
glycin-svg loader exited early

Key observations:

• The SVG is correctly included in gresource
• Replacing it with a minimal valid SVG still causes the same crash
• This suggests the issue is not with the SVG itself, but with the SVG loader (glycin) in the GNOME 49 Flatpak runtime

• GNOME 48 → 49 migration is not fully smooth
• Requires manual Python dependency fixes (missing six)
• App crashes at runtime due to SVG loading failure in GNOME 49

• This seems like either:

  • a missing dependency in the Flatpak manifest (for glycin loaders), or
  • a runtime-level issue in GNOME 49
